UIDAI releases Draft Rules on Pricing of Aadhaar Authentication Services
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released the draft Aadhaar (Pricing of Aadhaar Authentication Services) Regulations, 2021. The rules were drafted on the basis of decision taken by the UIDAI in its meeting dated 14.09.2021. The final rates of Aadhaar e-KYC for the Telecom sector will incorporate this decision.
Individuals and organizations can send comments on the draft rules on the email Id [email protected] by or before 06.10.2021.
Highlights of the draft regulations
Pricing of the Authentication Services: UIDAI will charge Rs.3 and Rs. 0.50 (both inclusive of taxes) for each successful e-KYC transaction and each successful Yes/ No authentication transaction, respectively. For each failed but chargeable transaction, it will charge Rs. 0.50 per such transaction.
Govt. exempt from charges: All government (Central & State) ministries and departments will be exempt from any charges for notified services or transfer of benefits and subsidies.
Separate License Fees: The above charges are in addition to the License fees and financial disincentives.
Revision of Charges: UIDAI will revise these charges every two years by linking it with the Consumer Price Index, and round it to the nearest 10 paisa.
Presumption of Agreement: If an existing requesting entity continues to use Aadhaar authentication services beyond the date of publication of these Regulations, UIDAI will presume that it has agreed with the authentication pricing. Any entity that wishes not to pay charges shall discontinue the use of authentication services and immediately inform UIDAI.
