NPCI International (NIPL) has collaborated with BENEFIT, Bahrain’s leading Fintech and electronic financial transactions company. The collaboration will enable the acceptance of RuPay cards at ATMs and Point of Sale (PoS) terminals across Bahrain.
Growth of RuPay
RuPay card network is conceived and operated by NPCI. Till now the company has issued over 635million cards in India. It recorded 1 billion transactions in 2019 across both online and offline payments. RuPay is on the road to innovation via contactless payments through NFC and other evolving payment technologies.
Recently Union Bank of India partnered with HPCL to launch a contactless Rupay Credit card as well. Further, it partnered with UAE and announced plans to increase merchant acceptance of India’s local payment system, RuPay.
How is this going to work?
This partnership with NIPL and BENEFIT will help Indian travelers to transact via their RuPay cards across 515 ATMs and 40K Point of Sale (PoS) terminals in Bahrain. BENEFIT will be working with their Members acquirers to ensure proper enabling of all NPCI’s Issuer Identification Numbers (IINs). This will apply to all card acceptance channels in BENEFIT’s network.
