Anra Technologies and Swiggy have reportedly received final clearances from the Ministry of Defence, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and Ministry of Civil Aviation for consortia to start drone delivery trials. With the approval, the consortia will begin testing beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations in India for food delivery through drones.
Anra’s flying team launched their first sortie after months of planning, risk assessments, air traffic control integration, training, equipment preparation, and coordination.
Details of the Project
Anra Smart Skies technology, is the only UAS technology vendor which received conditional exemption by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to lead two consortia as part of experimental flights of drones.
It will execute food and medical package deliveries in Etah and Rupnagar districts over the next few weeks, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology In Ropar. In the second consortium, Anra will partner with Swiggy, the Indian Institute of Technology in Ropar, and BetterDrones, focusing on food delivery.
Consortia of Experts
Ministry of Civil Aviation had earlier requested to submit expressions of interest from Consortia of Experts to perform experimental BVLOS operations.
Each consortium must include RPAS operators, UTM operators (Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management), supplemental service providers, and organisations responsible for data collecting, data analysis, safety case development, and POC preparation.
Each consortium will be led by a Project Coordinator who has at least two years of RPAS experience.
